Yangtze River Valley

It's called Chong Geong, or the long river. It is know for creating very fertile soil with it's yearly flooding, but new efforts by China with begin to dam up this river creating less flooding and whipping out all remains of civilizations before it. Preserved in this river bed are the remains of people that can be dated back to 2000 B.C. A great effort is going into recovering these artifacts from ancient cities such as Yang Dou, which was at the height of it's power even before Columbus made is way to America. So far, enough artifacts have been found to fill several museums. But still revoring acts have barely scratched the surface of it's treasure hidden by time. Born of ancient glaciers, water from the platuea of Tibet flows down collecting in tributaries for the river. The river flows nearly 4,000 mi. long and is the third longest river in the world, next to the Nile and Amazon Rivers. It's drainage area is as large as Mexico. This vast area is under construction stress. With help to conserve and save it's natural habitat the Yangzte River Valley is hopefull.
